COVID-19 vaccinations and menstrual cycle changes in Egyptian females

Background: To date, a number of clinical studies have investigated the impact of different COVID‐19 vaccines on menses, while the results have been varied and inconsistent. Bearing in mind the strong relationship between regular normal menses and the general health of females, it is judicious to accomplish menstrual health research in the context of the COVID‐19 pandemic and vaccination. Objective: To determine if there are any possible menstrual irregularities following the first and second doses (at least) of the COVID-19 vaccine and correlate it to the type of vaccine administered, and evaluate how long these effects will last. Subjects and methods: This study was a prospective observational study that included 347 questionnaires fulfilled by females who attended to receive COVID-19 vaccine at Menoufia University and Behera health directorate during the period of study from January 2022 till February 2023. Data were collected in two parts from cases who received any past doses; first part is past history about the previous doses, then prospective follow up for 3 months after the current second or booster dose.
