Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as one of the most pressing public health challenges of the 21st century. The ability of microorganisms to develop resistance to antimicrobial drugs threatens to undermine the significant medical advances achieved over the past century. As resistance to existing antimicrobials continues to spread globally, there are growing concerns that we may be entering a "post-antibiotic era" where common infections and minor injuries can once again become deadly (World Health Organization, 2014). This study provides a comprehensive overview of the antimicrobial resistance crisis, exploring the underlying causes, the scope of the problem, its impact on human health and the economy, and potential solutions to address this global threat. The paper draws upon the latest scientific research and reports from leading health authorities to shed light on this critical issue.
