Balinese ethnic adaptation in presenting harmony
Abstract
Transmigration is the movement of people from densely populated islands to islands where the population density is still quite low and its natural potential has not been worked out more intensively. The arrival of transmigrants to transmigration areas with their respective traditions and culture requires transmigrants to be able to adapt to the local culture in the area. Based on this phenomenon, there are three main problems in this research, first, why are the Balinese Ethnic able to adapt to the local ethnicity in Mertasari Village, Parigi Moutong Regency?, second, how is the process of adaptation of the Balinese Ethnic in realizing harmony in Mertasari Village, Parigi Moutong Regency?, and thirdly, What are the implications of the adaptation of the Balinese Ethnic to create harmony in Mertasari Village, Parigi Moutong Regency on social, economic, religious life and the kinship system? These three problems were studied using three theories, namely Julian H. Steward's Cultural Adaptation theory, Symbolic Interactionalism theory, and Structural-Functional theory (AGIL Model).
