A normal calcination step in catalyst synthesis is avoided from this process. A platinum nanoparticle nanocomposite was discovered using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with an average particle size of 2.2 nm–0.6 nm. It was found that 63% of the Pt and 37% of the PtO were found in the XPS investigations.
