Chief Executive Editor
- Defining and executing the editorial strategy of a publication
- Develop content ideas
- Hiring, managing, and mentoring a team of editors, writers, and other content creators.
- Manage editorial staff
- Monitor and evaluate content performance
- Review and approve content
- Reviewing and approving all content before publication, ensuring that it meets the standards of quality, accuracy, and style
- Stay updated and innovative, developing a vision and a plan for the website that aligns with the platform’s goals and audience needs
- Working with other executives and stakeholders to optimize the website’s performance, reach, and revenue; and staying updated on the latest trends and developments in the online publishing industry and adapting the website accordingly
Founder & Managing Editor
- Build relationships inside the business

- Hiring and overseeing a variety of content roles, including freelancers and part-timers

Editor
- Ensure a supply of high-quality manuscripts to Elsevier in quantities that are able to maintain the publishing schedule of the journal. If insufficient manuscripts are being submitted, then you should discuss how to address this with your publishing contact
- Ensure that the subject matter of the manuscripts reflects any changes of direction in the field of study to incorporate newly-emerging work (this may necessitate inviting articles or special issues)
- Conduct your activities in accordance with generally accepted industry standards for integrity and objectivity and with the policies of the journal and the publisher. We further recommend that you consult the COPE short guide to ethical editingopens in new tab/window
- Select the Editorial Board, in co-operation with your publishing contact
- Continually engage the Editorial Board on the progress of the journal and update and include them on ideas for editorial development. The Editorial Board should be involved formally through an annual Editorial Board meeting or informally in ad hoc meetings and discussions
- Provide strategic input into your journal’s development. Your publishing contact will be in touch regularly to report on the journal’s performance and suggest possible strategies for development, as well as discuss your suggestions
- Carefully review communications we send you regarding industry & company developments, and information and advice, all relevant to your role
- Highlight commercial advertising, supplement, and reprint opportunities, if these form important sources of income for your journal
- Promote the journal to peers and colleagues
Associate Editor
- Assist authors and reviewers with registration on editorial manager and troubleshoot problems with manuscript submission
- Ensure a publication agreement is received for all accepted manuscripts
- Liaise with the editor-in-chief to identify suitable reviewers, obtain reviews, and make recommendations to the editor-in-chief based on the reviews received and their own assessment of the manuscript
- Manage the review process to ensure that manuscripts move through review and revision as efficiently as possible
- May be designated by the editor-in-chief to act as a handling editor on relevant articles and oversee the review and editorial decision-making process
- Serve in the editorial board to uphold scholastic standards and provide input on journal policy, scope, and direction
- Track and keep a meticulous record of manuscripts at different stages of peer review while keeping a close eye on reviewer and editor turnaround times
- Tract editorial board members activities and facilitate communication with members.
Editorial Board
- Attend editorial meetings and assist in strategic decision-making
- Help the journal attract high-quality manuscripts by promoting the journal at relevant conferences and workshops
- May be designated by the editor-in-chief to act as a handling editor on relevant articles and oversee the review and editorial decision-making process
- Provide feedback and suggestions for the improvements of the journal
- Provide scientific expertise for the journal
- Serve as peer reviewer on selected articles
- Suggest topics and authors for commissioned reviews and commentaries
Production Editor
- Avoid outdated/invalid methods, even if pre-specified in the protocol
- Ensure that all copy editing is done properly then send to the publisher for the final production stage
- Provide statistical direction to the journal
- To ensure that the statistical tests used were appropriate, the results are properly interpreted and reported
- Validating statistical methodology, trends and results
Webmaster
- Address user complaints, collaborate with team members, and stay updated on web standards and technologies to deliver functional and user-friendly websites
- Builds, maintains, and troubleshoots websites, tests their compatibility across different platforms, and monitors online traffic and performance
- Configure and manage web servers, implement security measures, and review search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance website visibility
- ensure the functionality, security, and efficiency of web infrastructure while optimizing loading speeds, fixing issues, and updating website content
