IJPSE began publication in 2017. A decision was made to streamline IJPSE to meet the need for specialized journals in areas of study aligned with the interdisciplinary strengths of the university. The revamped IJPSE is now an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to the publication of original papers. It serves as a forum for practical approaches to improving quality in issues pertaining to Physical Sciences and Engineering as well as scientific research, particularly in Av. Urbina y Che Guevara, APARTADO: 82, Universidad Tecnica de Manabi (Ecuador/South America).

Copyright History

Open Access (OA) in the IJPSE work is licensed under a  Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. The number of freely accessible articles and, in particular, digital collections in the IJPSE is steadily increasing. However, when it comes to OA for monographs and edited volumes, there is still room for improvement. Besides publications, sources, especially in digitized form, are of great importance in the IJPSE. The publication platform for IJPSE is Open Journal System since 2017 to present.

Since its inception in 2017 IJPSE’s aim was to follow open access principles, to ensure that no charges be levied upon readers or educational institutions by royalty or copyright fee collection agencies, or by database vendors, for reader access to IJPSE’s online, free to the Internet articles.

In November 2019 the IJPSE Management Committee changed the copyright statement to take effect from the first issue of Volume 4.

Prior to Volume 4, the following was the copyright statement:

Copyright in individual articles contained in IJPSE was vested in each of the authors in respect of his or her contributions. Copyright in IJPSE is vested in Publisher: Portoviejo: Universidad Técnica de Manabí. No part of IJPSE (other than single copies for private study purposes) may be reprinted or reproduced without permission from the publishers, except that authors (or an author's employer at the time of publication) may make multiple printed copies and public website or institutional repository copies of their own articles (subject to identifying each copy as an article which was published originally in IJPSE).

This key part of this statement indicates that IJPSE does not compel authors to transfer copyright to IJPSE, although copyright in the compilation of articles in each issue and volume belongs to IJPSE. The phrase "Copyright... is vested in each of the authors..." should be interpreted to include cases in which an author's employer is the copyright owner.

However, IJPSE’s Management Committee reserved the right to approve requests for the making of copies for non-profit educational purposes. Authors should note that requests for copyright permission are infrequent, owing to IJPSE’s policy of open access. Any copies that are made, either in print or on a website, whether by the authors or by other persons, must be identified as having been published in IJPSE. 

Open Access License at IJPSE

IJPSE’s Management Committee reserved the right to make agreements with the publishers of database products and indexing and abstracting journals to include IJPSE content and to receive electronic copies of IJPSE content for these purposes. These agreements do not affect the authors' retention of copyright or the open access status of IJPSE content. Therefore, we change the copyright on Volume 4 onward is licensed under a  Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. Before Volume 4 the open-access license at IJPSE was under (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
